I am linking up and "bouncing" around with the Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia Blog Hop! And today I will talking trivia about one of my favorite classic Disney attractions, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress! I love this attraction, though it is not a thrill ride or features any of Disney characters we are most familiar with, it is a classic and an attraction that Walt himself had a hand in. And I just love that though it is the most classic attraction in the Magic Kingdom, it is located in Tomorrowland...I think that is just so fitting. It is perfect in that as Walt had and showed an appreciation for times gone by, he was a visionary, always "Moving Forward" and looking to the future.
Here are a few trivia tid-bits about the attraction:
- It began as the centerpiece of the General Electric exhibit at the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair.
- The dogs have gone by many names over the years - at various times Rover, Sport, Buster, and even Queenie. As of 1994, they're all Rover.
- The 1920's scene can be traced to 1927. Listen for the Charles Lindburgh reference on the radio broadcast.
- The current voice of the Grandfather, Rex Allen, was the voice of the father in the original New York World's Fair recording.
Let's all sing...."It's a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day. It's a great big beautiful tomorrow, and tomorrow is just a dream away."....You know you love it! <3 your progressive Dixie Pixie.
