Time to set sail!

Image
Today is the day! After so much planning and anticipating it is finally here...we are setting sail in The Disney Dream for a 3 night Bahamas cruise. I am super excited and will share all of it with you when we return. But for now here is just a little sneaky peak at some of what has happened so far... Checking in was a breeze, we boarded the ship about 20 minutes after arriving at the port terminal. Took a little tour around to get familiar with everything and then hit Cabanas for a delicious buffet lunch. Followed by a tour of the spa and a rest in the stateroom. Which is where I am right now with my feet propped up on the balcony looking out over Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. Dreamy hugs and sea salty kisses...Your Dixie Pixie <3 data-blogger-escaped-br="br">

Meet the Dixie Pixie ... Well sort of meet...

I am furiously getting the final touches on all my planning for the big 20th Anniversary Disney Cruise coming up in just 2 more days. Final packing is the next thing. Yesterday I found a cute little app that lets you make a cartoon image of yourself. It's called WeeMee, and I had fun making little cartoon figures of my whole family. Wanta see? OK here they are... Wee Dixie Pixie has on the pink top with short red hair. That would be yours truly. (Robin in real like) Wee Mr Dixie Pixie has glasses and a red shirt. And sexy gray hair just liked DH. U think his Wee is just the cutest thing ever. (his name is Mark) The Wee man with the beard is my nearly grown first born and only son (Spencer). He's in college studying to be a worship minister. I'm so proud of him! And that sweet little blonde Wee is my beautiful baby girl (Scarlet). She's a high school sophomore and competitive dancer. So there you have it...our Wee Family. Luv from my Wee Family to yours...yo...

Fish Extenders on Disney Cruise Line

Image
Since its only 5 days now until our Disney Cruise (yipeeee!), I have been getting all the gifts together for our fish extender exchange. What's a fish extender you ask? Well...let tell you... On each Disney Cruise Line Ship, each stateroom has a fish hanging on the wall outside the door. This is part decoration and part message center. The fish is there for Disney to place important communications to you such as excursion tickets and notes from the Cruise staff. It is like a mailbox for your room. A fish extender (FE) can be made of cloth, plastic or vinyl. It can be very creative or very simple. It can even be a simple bag, just so long as it has a pocket (or a few pockets) for you FE gifts to be placed in. If you are interested in participating in an FE exchange you will want to go to a Disney message board and search for cruise meets. Look for your cruise date and ship name and see if one has been set up. If it has, just login and request to join the FE group. There is ...

It's almost time!

Only 6 days till our 20th Anniversary Cruise on the Disney Dream! WhooHoo! I'm a little excited. And things are coming together. Haven't started the packing just yet, but the planning has been furious and fun. Thought I would share with you my planning notebook for the cruise. Those of you who read the blog or follow the Dixie Pixie Planner on Facebook know about my notebooks that I always make for our WDW trips. Well of course I had to make one for the cruise :) Being the uber planner I am, an also aligning with my ICD tendencies, everything needs a place where I can put my hands on it and know its all laid out and organized. So...the binder makes me happy, and gives me piece of mind. In the binder is everything we need and more. Packing lists, ship map, DISbiard Disigns for the cabin door (gotta laminate those and put magnets on), DCL luggage tags/contact cards (to give to grandparents), all other DCL forms and print outs, cruise tips sheets(so I don't forget abou...

Fun things to do at WDW...Part 2: "An Evening on Bay Lake"

Image
As you can tell by the title, and my last post, this series will focus on specific ways to enjoy all of the fun little things there are to do at WDW without even entering any of the four theme parks. Of course the parks ate super fun, and you should certainly plan time to spend in the parks. But there are so many other things that sometimes get over looked, or not even thought about. Many of then are very cheap to do and quite a few are actually FREE! Which is always a plus. Though our family loves the parks and most of our trips are planned around our days spent in the parks, we have enjoyed a couple of trips when we didn't even go to a park during our whole stay, and we still had tons of Disney fun and made lasting magical memories. One of our favorite things to do is plan an evening spent on The Seven Seas Lagoon. We usually start by traveling to the entrance of the Magic Kingdom by a Disney Transportation bus, remember were not going into the park, but we'll get some sp...

Fun things to do at WDW...outside of the parks

Image
There is so much to be done on a Disney vacation. Visiting the theme parks is just the beginning. Beyond the parks there are many recreation, shopping, dining, and entertainment options to enjoy. How about enjoying a beautiful morning with a round of golf at one of Disney's premier golf courses? A day trip to a Disney Water Park can also be a great way to relax, have fun, and enjoy the Florida weather. Holidays at WDW are especially magical. If you are visiting during the winter holidays, take time to tour the resorts. Each resort is decorated to its specific theming with wonderful holiday touches. Many offer special events and entertainment over the holidays season. Another "out-of-the-park" idea is to enjoy an evening at La Nuba byCirque du Soleil, a magical entertainment experience like no other. La Nuba brings together dreams and reality as the urban and circus worlds meet on stage through acrobatics, dazzling choreography, whimsical characters and live music...

Why Disney?

Image
There is nothing like the memories you make at Disney World. Our family travels a lot, and we do a lot of fun things together. We are always making memories. But it seems like we talk about our Disney World trips more than anything. The Kids love to pull out their scrapbooks from our past trips and look at them to remember the fun. And often we get out the family video tapes of our trips and watch them and laugh and wish we were back there again. I will never forget the first time my son met Goofy on our first trip. Goofy was his favorite character and we hadn’t been able to find him. It was our last day and suddenly - there was Goofy. Spencer was so excited; he ran over to him and gave him a big hug and a kiss on the nose. Then there was the first time my daughter saw Cinderella’s Castle. It was night and the Magic Kingdom was decorated for Christmas. We covered her eyes until we got out on Main Street right in front of the Castle. When we uncovered her eyes and she saw the Castle, ...
